"After
waving goodbye to midtown
Manhattan and my job as
Worldwide Creative Director
for Saatchi and Saatchi, I
am interested in standing
still, seeing what moves
me. The thin trail of a
sandbar in high tide, the
pink edge of a cloud, the
offset reflection of a half
moon. And, always, the
mystery evoked at the edge
of the Chespeake Bay's water
and sky."
Ann
recently moved from
Manhattan to the Eastern
Shore of Virginia where she
and her husband, Dan Lytle,
have had a house since the
mid 90s.
"I'd
always been a writer -
journalism and poetry and
probably hundreds of 30
second TV spots. I started
painting ten years ago as a
way to do something creative
without all of the judgement
that my career brought me.
Most of my art education has
come from learning to stand
still, see what moves me.
Also, I've learned a great
deal from the work of other
artists, particularly Keven
Fitzgerald, Milton Avery,
Wolf Kahn, John Evans,
Leslie Wu and JW Turner."
Ann's
paintings have been
auctioned annually to
benefit Maryland Hall Arts
Center in Annapolis.
