About the Artist -
Donna Davenport Warren was
born and raised on the
Eastern Shore of Virginia in
the town of Greenbush. As
far back as she can remember
she wanted to be an artist.
As a child, she drew and
sketched, sometimes instead
of doing her school work.
But she did not become
serious about a career in
art until the early
seventies when she saw an ad
in the paper for art classes
and signed up so that she
could learn the finer points
of mixing paints.
Although drawn to the works
of Rembrandt and Andrew
Wyeth, Donna doesn't
prescribe to any particular
style. She prefers
versatility and enjoys
painting whatever she feels.
Her subjects range from
serious landscapes to
whimsical folk art. Her
preferred mediums are
acrylic and oil, but she has
also worked in watercolors,
pencil, ink and others.
In 2006, Donna began
studying the oil "glazing"
technique (transparent layer
of oil paint over under
painting) with Carole
Pierson. This technique has
added a new dimension to her
art. One of her oil
paintings " A New Day" took
1st Place at the E.A.S.L.
Art Show ( Fall 2006).
